What Is CrossFit?

CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide.

Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist.

The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs.

The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. Our terrorist hunters, skiers, mountain bike riders and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen.

Quickly defined, “Constantly varied, functional movement, performed at high intensity.”

SO WHATʼS A CROSSFIT CLASS LIKE?

Our workouts at CrossFit Oceana generally consist of working on a lift, followed by some auxiliary work, and finally the metabolic conditioning (workout). The Workouts are usually 20mn or less, but are demanding all-out physical exertion! They combine movements such as running, rowing, jumping rope, weightlifting, gymnastics, as well as numerous body weight exercises. Each day brings a new carefully programmed “WOD” or “Workout of the Day.” We get you warmed up, we spend time working on strength and skills, and then we jump into the workout as a group. Afterwards, you’ll have the opportunity to cool down with some stretching and apply some mobility work that we post on the site. We encourage you to keep track of your performance on each workout so that you can see your long-term progress.

DO YOU HAVE SHOWERS IN YOUR FACILITY?

Yes. Crossfit Oceana has 2 single bathrooms with 1 shower in each.

I AM COMING TO VIRGINIA BEACH AND WOULD LOVE TO DROP-IN. CAN I AND HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

We love drop-in guests! The cost to drop-in is buying a T-shirt or $20 per class. We look forward to seeing you!
